What is the difference between a CADC and an LCADC?
A certified alcohol and drug counselor differs from a licensed and certified alcohol and drug counselor in the amount of education that is required. A person may become a certified alcohol and drug counselor with a GED or high school diploma along with passing the required test and taking certain required classes for the certification. In order to obtain an LCADC, you must complete advanced degrees in counseling. People who have either a CADC or an LCADC may offer counseling services to addicts and to people who are recovering alcoholics.
Test preparation for New Jersey Addiction Counselor (CADC/LCADC) Exams- Written & Oral
In New Jersey, people must pass an exam to obtain either their CADCs or LCADCs. These exams include written and oral components. It is important to study the material thoroughly so that you are prepared. The written portion of the test covers the 12 core competencies needed for sound addiction counseling. You will need to review the competencies and to understand them in order to pass the test. In order to prepare for the oral portion, you will need to prepare a case study and be ready to answer a variety of questions. Personal Evolution can offer you the mentorship that you need as you prepare for your test and learn the material.
What is a National Certified Counselor?
A national certified counselor certification demonstrates that a person with at least a masters-level degree in counseling has met the rigorous educational standards to obtain national certification in counseling. Obtaining an NCC certification requires that you meet the national counselor exam requirements as well as the supervised hours before you will be able to take the test. The exam is administered by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
